Research Project NAVADA

There is a need for play and learning spaces to accommodate children’s scientific curiosity and interest in the world. This is the motivation for the NAVADA project, which will contribute to better conditions for science education in daycare institutions. Within NAVADA, researchers and daycare professionals cooperate to develop play and learning spaces for science education to help future generations understand the world and its sustainability issues and engage with them head-on.

Children already wish to go beyond the fence of the kindergarten and discover how the world works, how things are made, and where they come from. They are curious about experimenting with quantities and shapes and acquiring terms for what they encounter. This knowledge is key if we, as a society, are to develop solutions for the sustainability challenges of the world.

With NAVADA, science education research has gained a new knowledge center at the Department of Early Childhood and Social Education, University College Copenhagen. This website will regularly report on the results of the project.
